As we welcome in the New Year, it's a great opportunity for reflection and renewal, encouraging us all to re-evaluate our values and commitments for the upcoming year.
A key focus we all can embrace is sustainability, which is increasingly important for both individuals and businesses alike. By partnering with sustainable companies, we align our actions with environmentally friendly principles and contribute to a shared mission for a more sustainable future.
Thanks to our Carbon Neutral Plus accreditation and sustainability commitment, our products and training are aligned with international best practices and standards, supporting your CSR programme and helping you in your journey to Carbon Neutral.
Adopting sustainable practices and working with partners who share the same vision can lead to creative solutions that benefit communities and the planet for years to come, making this New Year the perfect time to establish goals centred around your CSR programme (ecological and social responsibility).
Our journey to Carbon Neutral+
At Enfield Safety, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. From the products we offer to how we manage our operations, we are committed to creating a greener future. Our journey to becoming a Carbon Neutral+ organisation demonstrated that commitment, and since achieving our Carbon Neutral status, we continue to set ambitious goals to reduce our environmental impact. Here's a closer look at our journey and the sustainable products and practices that make Enfield Safety a leader in eco-conscious business.
Becoming Carbon Neutral+ was a journey that required diligence, collaboration, and innovative thinking. Here's how we achieved this milestone:
Auditing our carbon footprint
We began by commissioning an independent and thorough audit of our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions under the WRI/WBCSD Greenhouse Gas Protocol and ISO 14064-1. This appraisal provided a comprehensive overview of our carbon footprint and earned us the Carbon Footprint Standard, validating our emissions calculations against international standards.
Setting our target
Armed with this data, we set our sights on achieving carbon neutrality by March 2021. But we didn’t stop there. We raised our ambition to Carbon Neutral+, ensuring not only that we offset our emissions but also that we made a positive contribution to the environment.
Reducing emissions
Working with external consultants, we identified and implemented measures to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. These initiatives continue to deliver long-term environmental benefits.
Sustainability at our headquarters
Sustainability begins at home, and our headquarters is a shining example of this philosophy in action. The Enfield Safety team actively contributes ideas to align with our sustainability vision.
Key initiatives include:
- Greener Transportation: Introduction of electric and hybrid vehicles into our fleet and installation of electric charging points.
- Plastic Reduction: Full Plastic Reduction Scheme and elimination of single use plastic, like cups and cutlery.
- Energy Efficiency: Switching to LED lighting and using PIR sensors for communal areas to reduce energy consumption.
- Biodiversity: Maintaining 25% of the site as a wildlife haven.
- Cycling Encouragement: Providing cycle racks and encouraging staff to ride to work.
Our supply chain and logistics
We extend our sustainability efforts across our supply chain and logistics to ensure every stage of our business process aligns with our green goals.
In the supply chain
- Reducing single-use plastics.

Sustainability is built into the design of our products and services. Here’s how we are making a difference:
PPE & Workwear
We source and supply a large range of PPE and workwear made from 100% recycled polyester sourced from plastic bottles and post-consumer clothing. During the making process of these garments less water and energy is required creating less pollution.
Signs
Our in-house ECO signage range can be made from fully recyclable materials with efficient sizing to minimise waste and reduce costs. Each ECO material is listed with an eco-score to help you make informed choices on sustainable signage.
Barrier & Traffic Cones
We do not only supply great value products, but we’ll also help with environmentally friendly recycling of used cones and barriers. Our cradle-to-grave recycling service turns your end-of-life site plastics into new recycled products.
We work closely with our recycling partners to maximise the lifecycle of the materials in our products, reducing our carbon footprint and saving costly landfill charges for our customers in line with our commitment to ISO14000 environmental management.
Cleaning Chemicals
We supply eco-friendly, clean, and green cleaning solutions that do not come at a cost to the planet. These cleaning products enable businesses to eliminate single-use plastics while still maintaining a high standard of professional cleaning.
Furniture
We stock a range of fully recyclable cardboard eco-desks designed for sustainability and made from 100% recyclable materials.
Workwear & PPE Recycling
We have a fantastic workwear recycling program as part of our commitment to sustainability. As part of this audited recycling service, we salvage used workwear to help protect the environment by having 0% landfill policy. Instead, the workwear is recycled and reused. We also safeguard branded workwear for security.
